Members of the Straits Area Sportsmen’s Club belong to the U.P. Sportsmen’s Alliance, MUCC Executive Board Director Region 2/Eastern U.P., MUCC Conservation Policy Board Region 2’Easten U.P., Far Eastern U.P. Sportsmen’s Coalition, Eastern U.P. Citizen Advisory Council to DNR, Resource Advisory Council to the U.S. Forest Service, U.P. Cronic Wasting Disease Council, Safari Club International, Ducks Unlimited, and The Ruffed Grouse Society.
Information gathered from these surveys will help when attending one of these meetings. An example would be with Michigan Untied Conservations Clubs members on the Conservation Policy Board; they can submit resolutions to the Board to be passed and then taken to the MUCC Convention, where the members will vote on them. If given, MUCC staff will work with DNR staff to make possible changes in regulations. One example you are familiar with is the Straits Area Sportsmen’s Club submitted a resolution to change the number of fishing rods a fisherman could use from 2 rods to 3 rods.
The 2022 Winter Wolf Survey Results have been released, and we would like to know the thoughts of our followers.
Now that Deer Rifle and Muzzleloader seasons are closed, the Straits Area Sportsmen’s Club is curious how your season went. So please take a moment to complete a quick survey to let us know how your season went.
The DNR reports 10,000 bears in the U.P. and a minimum of 695 wolves (per 2020 survey). So those of you using trail cameras, are you seeing more pictures of Bears or Wolves?

We are about a month into the 2021 Archery Season in the UP, and we would like to know how you are doing so far.
We are asking residents and hunters in the U.P. if they feel the Legislators in the UP have been helping with the wolf problem.
Over the years, many of you have encountered wolves in the Upper Peninsula. Unfortunately, many of these go unreported to the Michigan DNR. However, with possible litigation in the future, these encounters are essential data to be collected by the DNR for their records to show the number of increases in wolf-human encounters.
We want your thoughts about Hunt, her Nation, organizing a legal team to come to Michigan to review existing laws and work with our legislators to quickly implement wolf management this year, including a hunting and trapping season.
We want your thoughts about a few critical issues with delisting the Grey Wolf in the lower 48 states.
We want to know about your experience during the 2020 Firearms Deer Season. Club members will use the results at different meetings they attend in the U.P. and State-wide.
We are asking for people’s opinions on the proposed changes to the 2021 Deer Regulations as they pertain to the U.P. We plan to forward them to the NRV.
Bow season opens Thursday, October 1st, in your deer scouting area in the U.P. do you see more or fewer deer?

We would like to know our follower’s opinions on the proposed change to the Commercial Fishing Operations in Michigan.
We ask our followers how they felt about the NRC possibly requiring Hunter Orange on portable blinds on public and private lands.
We asked what our followers thought about the NRC reinstating the Doe Tag for the U.P. Archery Seasons.
We were asking the opinion of members and followers what they thought the limit of Brook Trout should be in the 33 streams in the U.P.
We ask our followers what type of fishing they do and what species they most often pursue.
Possible U.P. Northern Pike Length Change
W would like to know our followers, and Yooper thought of changing the maximum length limit of the Northern Pike in Upper Peninsula inland lakes only.
We would like to know our followers’ thoughts on what they felt was the cause of the decline in the U.P. deer harvest.
We are asking our followers for their thoughts on the 2019 deer season.
Michigan Wolf Survey
We want our followers’ thoughts on the Grey Wolf problem in the U.P.
We are asking what type of hunter our followers are. This will help us post timely information on our page regarding hunting issues and get to know our follower’s interests.
They asked fishermen who fished Brevort Lake how their Walleye fishing was during the summer. This will help us understand how our stocking program is coming along.
These surveys help us when our members attend different meetings representing the Upper Penisula, particularly the Eastern U.P.
