ABOUT THE COMMISSION
Mission
The Natural Resources Commission (NRC) plays a crucial role in managing wildlife and fisheries in Michigan. With exclusive authority over regulations for game and sport fish, the NRC sets policies, designates game species, and establishes initial open seasons. This approach ensures that Michigan's natural resources are managed sustainably and responsibly.
As a public body, the NRC emphasizes transparency and public engagement. Monthly meetings are open to citizens, providing them with opportunities to participate in discussions and decisions. These meetings are held at various locations across Michigan and serve as a platform for public input, allowing residents to express concerns, suggest changes, and stay informed about conservation efforts and regulations.
